My sewing machine has been humming this week as I've worked on samples from some of my patterns. First on my list were Laptop Computer Carriers for Bold Over Batiks. I used one of Bold Over's striking batik prints for the body of this Laptop Purse and a coordinating "solid" for the straps and handles. A coordinating border print added extra interest to the pockets. Kits will be available for these carriers later this fall.
The Laptop Purse includes a detachable, adjustable shoulder strap, carrying handles, and a velcro strap across the back so that the purse can fit over the handles on rolling luggage. It's a great way to carry your laptop computer in style!
Don't forget that I have Finishing Kits which include three heavy-duty handbag zippers, the strapping, and all the hardware needed to make the purses. Currently zippers are available in black, dark brown, and beige. If you need another color, let me know and I can place a special order.
Next on my to-do list was a Travel Set. For this set I used Moda's Friends and Flowers line of fabric by Mary Engelbreit. Isn't it fun and cheery?
The bag holds my super-comfy U-shaped neck pillow, a bottle of water, and book. An outer pocket allows easy access to my boarding pass, MP3player, snacks, and more.
I especially like the luggage tags in this pattern. A hidden pocket holds my business card for private and secure identification. I've made several of the tags in my favorite fabrics. Won't my bags be easy to find at the airport?
If you're looking for a fun, easy, and quick project, this is it! The luggage tags are perfect for holiday gift tags. Make them in fabrics to depict the recipient's hobby or special interest. The tags would also be a great way to present a gift card. Best of all, they take only minutes to make!
This week I head to Seattle for the Pacific Northwest Quilt Show. If you are at the show, please stop by the Superior Threads booth to say hello. From Seattle, I go to back to Alaska for a couple of weeks. The kids will join us so we're all looking forward to eating crab, reading, relaxing, and visiting. Maybe we'll even get ambitious and try a little kayaking.
As before, the best way to contact me will be by email, with orders sent through PayPal. If you prefer to order by mail, please note that orders sent by mail will not be processed until I return on August 26.
You may also order some of my patterns through The Quilt Pattern Shoppe. The Quilt Pattern Shoppe is an online quilt pattern store offering many immediate for-download quilt patterns from a diverse and talented group of quilt pattern designers.
Because all quilt patterns on the Shoppe are for immediate download, you don't have to wait for the quilt patterns to arrive in the mail. By simply printing out the quilt patterns on your home computer, you can begin your next quilting project right away! Aside from no shipping costs, you can also earn Shopper Reward Points from your purchases and receive free quilt patterns, thread, and fabric from partner stores.
At present I have only a few patterns on the Shoppe, but hope to include more as time goes. I'd love to hear your thoughts about this new way of providing patterns.
