Handmade for the Holidays: Open Wide

Handmade for the Holidays
We are nearing the end of our Handmade for the Holidays series and we have had lots of fun! Our project for today is Open Wide!. Quick and fun to make, these handy zippered bags in three sizes open wide for easy access to all your supplies.
Binding on the easy-to-install zipper finishes the upper edges and forms a handle and grab tab.

Two inner mesh pockets keep things organized and easy to view.
These feature a new product called fold-over elastic. It currently comes in 11 colors. We use this to line our mesh pockets and it gives a fun finish to the project as well as an elastic end to the pockets so contents are secured nicely.
Slip these classy bags in your suitcase — or use them to maximize the space on your vanity.
Be sure to make a few to have on hand for gifts. Who wouldn’t love a cute bag for cosmetics or other supplies?
Because these bags can be customized in three different sizes, you're sure to have a bag for any need for anyone.

Handmade for the Holidays: Nesting Baskets

Handmade for the Holidays

Fun and easy to make, these nesting baskets in three sizes will hold a multitude of treasures. When empty, they will stack inside each other for neat and compact storage.
Each container has a sturdy lid so the baskets may be stacked for attractive display. ByAnnie’s Soft and Stable gives great body and stability to these baskets and makes their construction extra easy and quick.
Instructions are included for baskets in three sizes with optional handles for carrying as well as an optional see-through pocket for a label.
Perfect for the sewing room, bathroom, nursery, child's room, craft room — or anywhere in the house! Seen above, customize baskets so little ones learn organization early one. They can feel proud knowing they put things where they go and you'll be happy with one less thing to do. It'd be really easy to include pictures in the vinyl pocket as well, for those who can't read.

We did a little experiment, and found that we could put 25 YARDS of fabric in the large size of Nesting Baskets. What a perfect way for displaying your fabric. The small size is just perfect for keeping Wonder Clips next to your sewing machine.

Don't you love the fun snowman set of baskets that Diane made? We think that these baskets would be perfect for storing Christmas cards, ornaments, candy, and more. A label made with a piece of chalkboard fabric would be perfect on the side of the small basket which makes the top of the hat. Diane found the snowflake embellishments at a local craft store. She used brown pipe cleaners for the arms and buttons for the eyes and nose.

Whether you or your loved one needs some organization, or someone is in need of some holiday cheer, Nesting Baskets makes for a fun, custom gift!

Handmade for the Holidays: Hot Fudge Sauce

Handmade for the Holidays

We're mixing it up today with a fun recipe for gifting. This recipe for Hot Fudge Sauce is part of Annie's cookbook From Halibut to Jalapenos

This recipe takes about 30 minutes to make and is perfect for coworkers, neighbors, and friendship groups.

It can be packaged beautifully and would be so nice with brownies or ice cream.

Dana, part of the Team, put together this hot fudge sauce and said it was easy and quick. She didn't include the rum at the end, and it tastes fine without it. Depending on your taste for rum, you may or may not want to include that. She also said when she added the boiling water to the mix, it mixed up beautifully at first, then started to separate. She started to panic, but kept making it. By the end of the process it worked just fine and came together in a delicious sauce.

Want to make it your own? Another fun idea would be channeling your inner chef and mixing up the chocolate.

So what are you waiting for? Start making a quick, easy, DELICIOUS, gift today.

Fall Market and Festival Recap

We had such a great time at Quilt Market and Quilt Festival meeting with so many new and old friends!

This show we had our biggest space ever - FOUR BOOTHS! It seemed huge when we first thought about it, but we were quickly able to fill the tables, racks, and walls with our samples, notions, and products for making beautiful things. It was so fun being across from Superior Threads as always.
The following are some quick photos that Kati took while wandering the aisles.

Exited about a new fabric line being released for Cotton and Steel by Rifle Paper Co. The display was so simple and striking.

Loved the dresses and pom poms displayed here.

Gloria and Kati ooh'd and ahh'd over the nurseries put together by Shannon Fabrics. The little elephants are so precious. Everything is so soft, too! Some days we wanted to curl up and take a nap in their booth.

Loved the theme of this booth by Taylor Made Designs!

Moda had quite the sparkly booth celebrating 40 years! We loved all the gold.

We loved seeing Sherri and Chelsi for the debut of their new fabric Valley. They are such sweet friends and Annie had to snap a photo with them. Sherri is holding Get Out of Town and Chelsi is holding Open Wide!.

Here is Vanessa of Lella's Boutique modeling her cute Got Your Back in her new Little Miss fabric. Do you spy the Back at Ya and Potluck Pals in the background?

Alison Black is showing off her booth with Bowl Me Over and Bling it On in the background.

We spied this Bling It On in Kate Spain fabric over in United Notion's booth.

Do you spy the Open Wide! and Travel Essentials made in Good Hair Day?

Finally, we spotted our Open Wide! and Bowl Me Over in the Kaffe Fassett booth.

We had a few hiccups with construction going on at the entrance of the convention center and Hurricane Patricia deciding to make an appearance. One day it took us an extra 45 minutes to get to the convention center because we had to navigate through back roads to find our way through the flooding. We had never seen so much rain in one place! We are glad it didn't slow everyone down though and we are looking forward to next year!

Handmade for the Holidays: Wickedly Easy Quilts

Handmade for the Holidays: Wickedly Easy Quilts

We are mixing it up with our Freebie Friday today to bring you a quilt pattern, Wickedly Easy Quilts!

This quilt is so easy to do, it's almost sinful!

Made using just one basic 16” block, these quilts are great for philanthropy projects, dorm quilts, or just a way to use up your stash.

Each fat quarter of fabric will provide enough pieces for one block plus leftovers for the border.

By using a variety of fabrics and varying the rotation of the blocks, you can make many bold and beautiful quilts.

The more fabrics you use, the more flexibility you will have in arranging the blocks.

We love this idea for a gift because it can be so personalized. People always want a warm, cuddly quilt to wrap up in and take a nap.

It'll look like you went to a great deal of effort. . it'll be our little secret.
